OUR JOURNEY | 6 MARCH 2019

A French Prelude

Our love affair with France started in the most unlikely of places: the most Easterly point of Australia, our hometown of Byron Bay and a beautiful venue which is a perpetual source of inspiration and still serves as one of our favourite locations in which to shoot. Best described as a chateau, Deux Belettes is a Francophile’s dream with its pebbled pathways, stone walls and farmhouse charm.

The location quite literally set the tone for our shoot and wanting to capture a level of warmth and romanticism we hadn’t before, the golden hues of the architecture and the soft light of a slightly overcast day transported us to Provence and we were in our element! Sometimes everything just falls into place and the results are more amazing than you ever thought possible. Brides from all over the world started responding to our gowns in a big way, with our detachable off shoulder Elora strapless being pinned and shared hundreds of thousands of times and if we’re honest, we weren’t prepared for what lay ahead of us but it was clear that we had effectively bottled the essence of romance and the exuberance of youth with our Des Fleurs collection and we weren’t the only ones inspired by all things French.

Every gown in this collection speaks from the heart and frivolity responds in kind. We want our Des Fleurs brides to have fun on their wedding day and as we watched Evie Sharon skipping across the grass in our low back Easton gown we knew we had created a collection that delivered on the promises it made: promises of fluid movement, of invitations to dance, of animated florals come to life, of relaxed sophistication, of comfortable confidence and undying obsession. They are truly keepsakes that make feeling content in your own skin as easy as saying ‘I do’ to your chosen one and all who have worn them cannot begin to imagine ever parting with their wedding gown. At such an attainable price point this is almost unconscionable. Our Des Fleurs gowns and those that come after them are an example of our signature style and will always feel aspirational but forever remain an achievable and beautiful bridal option for brides-to-be the world over.

Ready or not, our Des Fleurs collection thrust us into the spotlight and onto the world stage and enquiries and invitations started pouring in from every corner of the globe but we still had to shoot what was perhaps our most ambitious collection ever so we went back to the mood board and instead of trying to bring a little piece of France to Australia, we decided to take 56 pieces of Australia to France.
