Kanako moved to Australia, finding so much more than a new life waiting for her. She found Patrick, love and the man who would become her forever.
“I’m originally from Japan and moved to Australia a few years ago, where I met Patrick. We clicked straight away and have been inseparable ever since.”
After two years of romance and commitment, Patrick knew it was time for them to take the next step in building their life together.
“Our story started in Australia and things moved pretty quickly! On our second anniversary in September 2024, Patrick surprised me with a proposal. We had a small courthouse wedding in March 2025, then in May 2026 we finally got to have our dream Catholic wedding with our favourite people from Japan and all around Australia.”
Falling in love with the sparkle and detail, Kanako found her dream dress was our Satine wedding gown.
“I actually chose my gown from the express range at Luv Bridal. I had originally imagined a lace-heavy ball gown, but there weren’t many options available in that style. I found “the one” in an A-line dress that I instantly loved. What made me choose it was how simple and elegant it was, and how easy it felt to personalise it to suit my vision. With a few adjustments, like adding a petticoat underneath, it transformed into the fuller look I had always dreamed of. It ended up feeling like the perfect balance between what I had imagined and what was actually available.”
The couple had a romantic, traditional church ceremony, preceded by a courthouse civil ceremony a year prior. Opting to have their big celebration later to ensure all of her family and friends from Japan could be there to share the memories with her.
“We did ceremony at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Townsville and cocktail hours and reception at Mercure Townsville.”
Our bride’s favourite moment of the big day was the opportunity the wedding made for her to look around and see her nearest and dearest from both of her homes all in one place.
“Looking around and seeing all of our favourite people from Japan and Australia together in one place. Knowing they had all travelled so far just to celebrate with us made it feel so meaningful and unforgettable.”
Congratulations Kanako and Patrick!
