Tell us your proposal story.
The couple met after a mutual friend played cupid and set them up! Numbers were exchanged, then text messages, a first date – and the rest was history.
“We met by being set up on a date by my best friend, Emma. She had gone to high school with Aiden and had an inkling about this set-up. Shortly after she gave him my number, he texted me and we planned our first date. We shared a disgusting pizza and then went for drinks and that’s where we fell in love.”
Aiden proposed to our bride, again, with some help from super-friend Emma. Although, Katelyn didn’t know she, herself, also had a part to play in the planning of the question-popping.
“Aiden proposed to me. I had been talking with Emma about wanting pictures taken of us and she offered to take them! Little did I know that I just planned our engagement. We were taking pictures in this beautiful lush field in Oklahoma and he got down on one knee and asked the question! Best yes I have ever said!“
Which Madi Lane gown did you fall in love with, and why?
Katelyn fell in love with the best and last dress she tried on – our Wendall wedding dress, loving the detachable scarf accessory, the lace appliqué detail, and buttons that run the length of the train for a classy finish.
“I had booked one appointment at a bridal shop, there I tried on 4 dresses. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted wasn’t loving them on me. The Wendall dress was the fourth dress I tried and and obviously it was the winner! It was exactly the vibe of the wedding fit into a dress which I had no idea could even be a thing. It was comfortable and just so classy and more than I could ever dream of!”
Where did you get married? Tell us about the location, and style of your wedding.
Their wedding was deeply personal, with a focus on spending it with as many of their family, friends and loved ones as possible. Choosing a town that was special to both of them.
“We got married in Stillwater, Oklahoma – my husband’s home town and my college town. It was close to home so all the people we loved could be there! After the ceremony, we had a classy dinner party to celebrate, no big dance floor or over the top reception.”
What was your favourite moment from the big day?
Katelyn’s favourite moments from her wedding day was actually the time spent with the women who support her every step of the way.
“My favorite moment was getting ready with my mom and sisters! We got to get our hair done and do our makeup! It was a day truly embracing being a girl, which I love. Before the ceremony all of the girls I love most were in my bridal suite – my nieces, best friends, sisters, and my mom – and it was truly the most relaxing day getting ready to marry the love of my life!”
What advice would you share with future Madi Lane Brides?
“Find a good and reputable seamstress for alterations! Mine had to remove all of the appliqué to hem the dress and then hand-sewed the appliqué back on!“
